the afternoon. that cold will stay with us but will warm up next week. talk about that, coming up. >> pam: police investigating a death. after a sonoma county man's body is discovered in a landfill in petaluma. this is video of the scene from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. investigators say, the death is suspicious -- largely because the man was found at a recycling facility. they believe the man was originally in a petaluma dumpster. and then taken to the recycling center in a recycling truck. but, as kron four's philippe djegal reports. the sheriff's department says there are still a few missing pieces to this story. the sonoma county sheriff's department says the body of a hispanic man was found in

a pile of recycled cardboard and other materials at this facility in petaluma friday. novato disposal services. which collects trash from marin and sonoma counties. the sheriff's department says the body was discovered by an empoyee in this warehouse just before two o'clock in the afternoon. deputies responded, taped the area off, and closed the yard for the day. staying on scene through the early evening. investigators say they know the identity of the man. but that won't be released until notifying next of kin. the sheriff's department says there are no obvious signs of trauma on the body. investigators are trying to track down where the body came from. the coroner's officer will next perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. in petaluma, philippe >> pam: an attempted rape in san francisco's mission district earlier this week has the community coming together to rally against sexual crimes.

kron 4's alecia reid has more on what precautions the neighborhood is taking. >> reporter: marching through the mission district, neighbors pledge to respond to cries for help. they want their streets to be safe. taking aual violence, a sea of men and women are promoting vigilance against these crimes. >> manifest ourselves against violence in any form, especially against women. >> reporter: the latest victim was attacked saturday night. she used skills that helped her get away from her attacker without being seriously harmed. activists say rape isn't just sex without consent. some of these women are threatened, injuredand some of them end up dead. >> it's an epidemic and we need to call it an epidemic. there's a reported rape every 6.2 minutes in the united states, and that's what's reported. there's a lot more rapes happening. more than twice that they think. >> reporter: since this recent attack , there have been a number of inquiries about self defense classes at impact bay area >> we teach a free introduction to self defense class at sports basement every month, but in response

shooting deaths today. the first was reported around 2:30 p-m when police found a man hit with multiple gun shot wounds near east 17th street and 23rd avenue. he was transported to the hospital but later died. at around three p-m a man was found dead also suffering from gun shots near canon ave and wellington st just after 4 p-m a shooting was reported at 34th near west st.. no victims were found but later a man was admitted to a nearyby hospital where he died. and just after eight. police found a man dead suffering from gun shot wounds on hillside ave. near 94th street. there are no suspects in any of the four incidents. >> oakland police conducted several raids today in an

effort to crack down on the city's crime wave. oakland has suffered an escalating problem with violence. such as the homicide you see here, where a woman and man were shot as they went through a drive- through restaurant. police launched 'operation ceasefire' to try and stem the violence. in the raid, police say, they detained 6 people. and confiscated guns and other evidence. >> many of our violent offenders are repeat offenders. this community deserves that, so we can make an impact today was an example of working together with our partners to address violence. >> pam: police say, it is unclear right now, how many suspects will be arrested and prosecuted. adding, they will conduct another raid, if need be, to help reduce crime in oakland.

in the north bay - a teenager from northern california who was visiting family members -- is shot and killed. police are now looking for the gunman. 17-year-old la-vanial williams was found shot multiple times on a walkway. it happened just after midnight-- on drake avenue. in marin city family members say, he was staying with them and shot near their home. so far no arrests have been made. new at 11 just released report that say that lance armstrong will admit to using performance enhancing drugs throughout his cycling career. this is expected to come out in an interview with oprah winfrey which is set to be taped on monday. >> pam: those traveling in and out of the san francisco airport should prepare for delays this weekend. we explain why. then. a national flu outbreak has the demand of vaccines way up. which has led to spot shortages. what health officials are doing about it. plus. a mudslide slowly becoming a much bigger clean up problem in berkeley. we explain when kron 4 news at 11 returns

>> pam: if you're flying in or out of s-f-o this weekend, you could experience some delays. and they have nothing to do with the weather. kron 4's dan kerman explains. >> reporter: beginning friday at 10pm and running through monyday at 8am, sfo will close runway 28 left that's the one closest to us they'll be doing some federally mandated runway construction work since this runway will close, that means instead of landing 60 flights an hour, on two runways, they'll be landing 30 flights an hour on one runway.. sfo officials say that will mostly likely lead to delays of flights that travel up and down the west coast especially during peek travel times

>> pam: the recent rainy weather has caused a hill one the lawrence berkeley lab to slide and has forced one building and part of a major road to close. kron four's jeff bush shows you the damage and explains what

the lab is doing about the problem. >> the hill started sliding last month and seems to be getting worse. you can see the lab has placed tarps over the slide but it continues to grow. the lab has closed down mcmillan road and building 46which is the workplace for administration staffers. cars are forced to take the long way around the slide and the workers in that office building were reassigned to other work spaces until the problem can be diagnosed and fixed. in the mean time, the lab has installed pumps and have dug trenches to take the pressure off the hillside. officials say it is unclear how long the hill will continue to slide. but, until the slide is stabilized the road and the building will be off limits. lab officials say geologists are waiting for core samples to come back to figure out what they can do to shore up this hillside. in the mean time, this roadway will stay closed and so will that office building. i'm jeff bush in berkeley, kron four news.
